Upcoming Events in Nelson, Tasman

Tuku 24 Whakatū

An exciting festival of culture and heritage based in Whakatū Nelson and beyond. Tuku 24 Whakatū is programmed by Nelson City Council but all the individual events, similar to a fringe festival, are delivered by “events hosts” from across the community.

Motorcycle Festival

ADVENTURE RIDING AT ITS BEST.

KMC are working with Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council to host an event for both Adventure Bikes and Road bikes that both showcases our region to visitors, and also allows local Adventure riders to enjoy access to a variety of off road trails that would not normally be available. Road bikers will be catered for with 2 days of scenic roads throughout Nelson and Tasman while taking part in Poker runs and mini events individually or in teams of 4. The festival will be held on Friday the 3rd and Saturday the 4th of May culminating in an evening with a band outdoors in Nelson.

In this first year we are capping Adventure bike riders at 50 bikes and road bike riders at 50 bikes. Being located in the middle of New Zealand we hope to attract a number of riders from outside of the region and are working with the Interislander Ferry service to provide discounted rates for participates.

Each bike will need to be vetted by local motorcycle shops leading up to the event and stickered with sponsors logos to verify their participation.

SAL’S NBL LAUNCHES RAPID LEAGUE FOR 2024

Strap yourself in, there’s even more Kiwi basketball coming your way next year.

The Rapid League, an innovative concept initially proposed by Sky Sport commentator Justin Nelson, hit the court earlier this year and immediately delivered positives to the Tauihi competition, including increased player development, more television coverage, and additional commercial revenue opportunities for the league and teams across the competition.
Sky Broadband Rapid League games will be played immediately prior to Sal’s NBL games, tipping off exactly one hour prior to the later games, with the four-by-four-minute-quarter Rapid League featuring up to seven players named on the bench for each team in the long version of the games that day. As with the G.J. Gardner Homes Tauihi, starters are not eligible to take part in Sky Broadband Rapid League games.
