COVID-19 Policy and Procedures
Thank you for choosing Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park for your holiday or relaxation time away from work; it is our aim to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Keeping Everyone Safe
The health and safety of our guests and employees is always our highest priority. We take great pride in maintaining the best standards of cleanliness and hygiene at our Holiday Park and as the COVID-19 landscape continues to evolve, we continue to take measures to ensure ongoing vigilance around personal hygiene and cleaning standards.
Our team is actively monitoring all reputable sources to stay informed and up to date about COVID-19, including the New Zealand Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation, and in consultation Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) and Holiday Parks NZ.
Our existing cleaning and sanitising procedures have been reviewed to ensure the risk of spreading COVID-19 is mitigated and we have undertaken:
- Increased employee training and awareness of the requirement to maintain the highest level of health and safety in our workplaces at all times.
- Increased frequency of cleaning the public areas (including Reception’s surfaces, door handles, and bathrooms) using high grade multi-surface disinfectant and cleaner.
- Increased availability of antibacterial hand sanitisers and effective masks for employee and guest use.
These measures continue along with regular safety communications, signage and briefings provided through internal communications platforms.
We were recently assessed and approved to carry Qualmark’s COVID Clean Approved logo, reflecting that our business is aware of all COVID-19 requirements as set out by the New Zealand government.
Under the Protection Framework introduced 2 December 2021 we will be implementing the following:
- Our accommodation (camping, cabins, studios and motels) is not currently mandated under the framework, and we welcome both vaccinated and non-vaccinated guests. As part of our commitment to keeping everyone safe and enjoying their time with us, mask wearing, social distancing and all other recommended precautions are in place and expected to be observed by all of our guests. This does not change between Orange or Red status.
- It is a rule of Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park, over and above any current government recommendations, that anyone using a shared indoor facility must wear a mask. This includes Reception, kitchens, laundries, showers and toilets, and Sky lounges. Please respect your everyone in our Park community by following this rule. Refusal to do so may result in you (and your group) being asked to vacate the Park immediately without a refund.
- All our staff, board members and contractors on site hold vaccine passes.
- Our housekeepers are not permitted to enter any of the roofed accommodation if a guest is inside and not wearing a mask.
- The Deck Café, which is open to our guests as well as the general public, requires proof of vaccination prior to entry as mandated by the government at Red level.
Prevention – How to protect yourself and others
Ministry of Health Guidelines
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow or by covering your mouth and nose with tissues.
- Put used tissues in the bin or a bag immediately.
- Wash your hands with soap and water often (for at least 20 seconds).
- Our team will be washing their hands very frequently, following the Ministry of Health Guidelines. Please bear with us if it takes us a little longer to serve you.
- Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
- Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.
- Avoid personal contact, such as kissing, sharing cups or food with sick people.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects, such as doorknobs.
- Stay home if you feel unwell.

We would prefer contactless payment by credit card or debit card.
If a traffic light setting of changed to a higher alert level (from Orange to Red, for example), a full refund will be given to those who have booked accommodation but no longer wish to travel during the period affected.
The Ministry of Health webpage offers a range of information on COVID-19 including how the virus spreads, prevention, self-isolation and areas of concern. The most effective way to prevent the spread of the virus is frequent hand-washing and appropriate cough and sneeze etiquette.
